Choosing who sees your TouchGrass posts

The right audience for a post is the people it concerns. An announcement about a project might belong on the open web. A family photograph might be meant for relatives. Reaching more people would change that second conversation, and it wouldn't necessarily improve it.

TouchGrass gives you public, friends and circles as ways to make that choice. Public posts can be read by visitors. Friends posts are for your accepted connections. Circles let you choose a more specific group, such as family, neighbours or the people working on a project with you.

These choices make room for different parts of your life. You can write to the people who understand the context, with fewer reasons to flatten everything into a statement suitable for everyone you've ever met. A smaller audience can make a conversation more useful.

You can also choose direct-link access for selected circle content on a profile persona when you want to share it more widely. That is an additional choice by the author. The principle stays the same: you should be able to decide who a post is for, and understand what that decision does.
