Export and backup
Account export gives people a way to keep an archive or prepare an exit. Plugin hooks and protocol vault work can expand that over time.
Portability is part of trust: people should be able to bring selected memories in, keep backups, and see what transfer paths are realistic.
Account export gives people a way to keep an archive or prepare an exit. Plugin hooks and protocol vault work can expand that over time.
Import paths should let people review selected memories before publishing or keeping them, instead of automatically dumping old platform history into a new place.
Account transfer depends on what each network and protocol can safely support. TouchGrass should keep those limits visible.
| Status | What it means for TouchGrass |
|---|---|
| Available | Profiles, posts, photos, albums, comments, messages, friends, circles, rooms, public/friends/circles visibility, account export, friend recommendations, email followers, optional Life and Playground plugins, permission-filtered search, resumable import recovery, and onboarding profile templates with shareable sample previews. |
| Partial / in progress | Protocol-specific account moves and some cross-network contact, posting, media, and transfer workflows. The exact boundary depends on the connected provider. |
| Experimental | Fediverse interoperability, selected ATProto/Atmosphere connections, native TouchGrass Pod storage, Solid/ActivityPods-compatible resources, and signed restricted federation where supported. |
| Planned | Simpler onboarding, clearer People, Circles, and Rooms flows, and additional optional Life and Playground plugins. Planned means direction, not a shipped promise. |
