We still want to hear from our friends. We want their photographs, their recommendations and the small updates that make a long-distance friendship feel less distant. We don't think enjoying those things should mean handing over the rest of our attention.
TouchGrass starts with the people you choose to follow and befriend. Your profile can say who you are; your posts can go to the people they're meant for. An ordinary life is enough to share. You shouldn't have to become a creator or promote a personal brand to belong on social media.
TouchGrass is created and maintained by Niels Decoster. It is not owned by Big Tech. We use open standards to connect with Mastodon and Bluesky because people should be able to choose their software without asking their friends to choose it too.
Leaving out endless scrolling, algorithmic feeds, native videos and public like counts is part of that commitment. We want you to have a worthwhile conversation, find something you'd like to read or make a plan with a friend. Then go and enjoy it.
